Ohio Auditor Dave Yost is seeking more than $300,000 in reimbursement from a licensed practical nurse who was paid for Medicaid services in Franklin County that Yost says she didn’t properly document.
Yost announced Thursday that he was seeking the money on the same day that he said his office had recouped $10.6 million in 2017 in other cases in which Medicaid providers couldn’t provide adequate documentation.
The nurse, Christa L. Miller of Hilliard, did not provide service records needed to back up Medicaid claims for which she was paid $358,284 for 2,486 services from July 2013 through June 2016, Yost said in a statement.
Yost said his office tried repeatedly to contact Miller about the discrepancy — even going to her home in December — but it was unsuccessful. Miller, who lives in Hilliard, couldn’t immediately be reached for comment Thursday.
“All Medicaid providers sign an agreement acknowledging their pledge of accountability,” Yost said in the statement. “I can only guess why this provider chose to bury her head in the sand instead of answering to taxpayers.”
